|09-02-2014 ...... Quinten has recently competed in the 33rd annual OVR Autumn Classic held at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. Quinten race in the open cock-pit Spec Racer Ford (SRF) class for the first time. Quinten first tested in the car in the twilight test and tune session held on Friday night and feel in love with the car! Come Saturday morning Quinten went out and qualified the Spearman Financial, Luebbe Fine Homes, Hammer & Brush #31 SRF second in class and third in group! On the start Quinten dropped back to 13th and battled his way back up to a 7th place finish. Later in the day Quinten raced in the Ken Berchak One Hour Endurance Race, after a strong start to the race, he began losing engine power and had to come in for a lengthy pit stop that put him multiple laps down, after what was thought to be the problem (the mass airflow sensor) was fixed, the team sent Quinten back out and he ran his fastest lap of the race. Sunday morning's race was in the rain, and Quinten had a strong start moving up from 7th to 5th in the first turn and into 2nd with a spectacular move slipping two cars in the "esses", Quinten was catching first place very quickly when he had the same problems as the endurance race with 3 laps to go, Quinten dropped back to finish the race in 4th. As the team got back the tent they began pulling apart the entire car to find the real problem of why the car was not getting any fuel, come to find out the rubber flapper valve had eroded and clogged the fuel line and was starving the engine for gasoline. The team returned the car back to race trim and they were ready to race the final race of the weekend. Quinten started on the outside of the second row, however, fell back on the start once again and was trying to battle his way back up to the front. However, on lap 4 Quinten was being passed in turn 2 and was unfortunately involved in an incident. Quinten made hard contact with left front suspension into the outside wall, resulting in a broken front suspension and an unfortunate DNF (did not finish) to end the weekend. Thank you to all who came out to support Quinten Nelson Motorsports! A huge thank you to Alliance Autosport for preparing an amazing car for Quinten. Also a HUGE thank you to our partners for this race, Spearman Financial Services and the entire Spearman family for being there to watch Quinten race and also to the companies of Luebbe Fine Homes and Hammer & Brush and the entire Luebbe Family!!
